This is a brand new website for Melissa. As she transitions from being a part-time high school biotechnology teacher into doing whatever is going to come next, she decided it was time to be The Biotech Biotch.

Goals:

To make access to biotechnology curriculum easy.
To make the curriculum cards I've created avalable to those who want to use them.
To share my personal teaching experiences so others can learn, laugh, or just shake their heads.

I think this image is from the Carolina Biological kit that tests for the Bitter Taste Allele. After PCR, students cut their product with a restriction enzyme that only recognizes a site in the bitter allele. The difference between the bitter and non-bitter allele is a SN.

Using the BioRad GMO PCR kit, we found one of these papayas to be genetically modified. That is a good thing because it should have come out as a GMO.
